Prescription sunglasses are appreciated mainly by people, who can't or don't want to wear contact lenses. Let's mention some occasions, where you don't get by without sunglasses. You are sitting on the beach, sun is shinning very strongly and you want to read something or go for a walk along the beach, or if you go skiing or hiking to the mountains where the sun is very intense. In all these and many other cases, strong sunlight is making you wink your eyes, which can lead to painful eyes or a headache, not to mention the harmful UV rays. You can, of course, use normal sunglasses, but only if you have a small eye error of refraction. Even the wearers of contact lenses definitely appreciate some advantages of prescription sunglasses in some situations and activities. If you have a cold, allergy or an unpleasant infection, it means that contact lenses are not suitable, but you need to go somewhere and the sun outside is very intense. Also in dusty conditions, where there is a risk of getting some particles of dust into your eye, it is better to use glasses. Another reason can be the age. People aged 40 and above need different correction for short-sightedness and different for long-sightedness. Contact lenses are not a solution for this type of error of refraction. Of course, you don't want to give up on your activities but without a correction of sight you are not able to do them in full extent. A very easy solution for this would be multifocal sunglasses. Prescription sunglasses are thus very welcomed alternative with some leisure time and sporting activities, when contact lenses or sun clips are not a suitable solution. Prescription sunglasses are now available for nearly anyone. You can also choose from the most modern sunglasses, which have specific shapes. Prescription lenses are possible to cut into any frames, except for the whole-shield lenses and some rimless sunglasses. This also applies for the sports prescription sun glasses. Without a problem you can choose from the most famous world brands and manufacturers and find what really suits you and feel comfortable. It is also possible to have these types of sunglasses made as multifocal. Of course, the selection of the frame itself is dependent on the size of the diopter and the distance between the pupils, but for most people it is possible to find the most “ideal” solution. One more advantage of prescription sunglasses is that when selecting the lens, you can choose the type, color, and surface modifications according to your needs and so increasing the quality of sunglasses but most of all the protection of your eyes. You can, for example, choose polarized lenses, antireflex and other types of reflex layers, which the former non-diopter glasses didn't have. A 100% UV-filter is a certainty of prescription sunglasses. One more advice at the end. If you decide to have prescription sunglasses made for you, please visit a specialized optics store and buy the frame and the lenses at the same store. Do not buy prescription sunglasses in stores where they don't work also with prescription lenses and can't give you specialized advice, because it can happen, that it is not going to be possible to cut prescription lenses into the sunglasses that you have chosen. |
