The method monovision is way of presbyopia correction, when is corrected differently each eye. One is corrected for distance and one for near. This correction can be done in three different ways. The most commonly used method of correction is using single-vision contact lenses.

Conservative monovision

Conservative monovision - correcting with eyeglasses or contact lens especially. The great advantage of monovision with contact lenses is its reversibility - this method leaves intact eyes. If there is a problem with monovision, lenses can be removed.

Modified monovision

Modified monovision - in this case, the dominant eye is corrected by single-vision contact lens at a distance. Nondominant eye is corrected by bifocal contact eventually multifocal contact lens. This technique is used mainly by people with higher demands for sharper distance vision. It achieved a greater comfort for the long distance correction than in bilateral correction with bifocal or multifocal contact lenses. This type of correction is very well tolerated even greater addition. This technique is convenient for clients demanding high-quality distance vision.

Surgical method of Monovision with LASIK

Surgical method of Monovision with LASIK - this method is not so often and it is because, when procedure was performed, there is no possibility to go back. It is so much riskier than the previous two methods. Problems can arise by the age when the increase of the addition, especially for near vision. The advantage is that the patient is not wearing any eyeglasses or contact lenses.
