Eyeglass frames > Semi rimless eyeglass frames

Semi rimless eyeglass frames are basically a frames with lens rims, where part of the lens rim was removed. In most cases, the removed part is the bottom part. But lately this is not a rule any more and the removed part is taken from any part of the lens rim. The lens itself then holds in the rim using nylon, which fits into a cut slot in the lens.

The advantages of the semi rimless eyeglass frames are lower saliency, lower weight, and despite the missing part their sufficient firmness. From disadvantages of semi rimless eyeglasses, it is mainly higher inclination to mechanical damage, and more complicated cut of lenses for hypermetropia and their hardness, because they tend to be very thin on the edge.
